Lake Macquarie Council has reported this morning that Scouts from the Carey Bay Toronto Scouts will be out in the community tomorrow cleaning up the foreshore on our Lake on Clean Up Australia Day.

Over the past few weeks I have been focusing my attention on the people of Carey Bay. Using the resources at hand I have been using birth, burial, death, electoral, marriage, newspaper and probate records for the people I believe had a Carey Bay connection.
While I have made minor additions to this site my focus had been on research.
I thought it would be fun to share a post from my personal blog here on Carey Bay 2283. One of the blessings from living in this location is our lake which provides us with many stunning vistas.

On the anniversary of our move to Carey Bay I can report that the only clouds over our decision to leave the Big Smoke for our spot on the Lake are the amazing assortment of clouds we view from our new living room and deck.
I hadn't previously thought much about clouds but, with our unrestricted view of the lake and sky, I have become a keen observer. It doesn't matter whether it is rain, hail or shine there is beauty in every cloud that comes into view.
Many visitors to Carey Bay don't set foot on our shores, they arrive and leave on various water craft.
Our latest visitor is a flash new sailing vessel, Lulu, who has spent the last few days in Carey Bay. As she is not on a permanent mooring I presume she's just visiting.

Many houses in Carey Bay are on the waterfront or situated so that they can have a view or glimpses of the boats in the Bay.

While several waterfront dwellers have boatsheds others store their boats conveniently in their gardens by the Lake. On a drive through the streets of Carey Bay one can spot many boats on trailers parked on the roads, in driveways or garages.
Out in the Bay there are currently, on licensed moorings, a small number of boats that range from a tiny timber vessel to large catamarans. These mostly belong to people who live close by and use small rowboats or rubber duckies (inflatable boats) to access their vessels on the water.

Carey Bay, which has a long frontage to Lake Macquarie, provides many sights for those who can view its waters.
Although the nearly full moon provided some light on Friday evening it was the snippets of conversation and oohs and aahs heard from the shores of Carey Bay that indicated something special was happening.
Many residents came out to vantage points including Yarul Reserve to view the Annual Float Your Boat parade that passed by. just after 7pm.
Boats of all shapes and sizes joined the parade.
